I got a late night e-mail from my publisher; I’m new enough to this that little things get me all excited. I’ve been assigned an editor, there will be requests for artwork, and sooner or later there will be a publishing date assigned. The editor gets to go through and find anything that needs to be changed, and while I’ve worked with betas for years, this may be more drastic than anything they’ve asked me to do. The commas are pretty well in order, so I am all tense about changes in the text-what did I screw up? Scratch that, what could I do better? Does that first reaction tell you anything about my mind set?
Other good news: another writer from a fiction site I belong to has her first novel coming out today in serialized form. Smoke by Mara Ismine will be available from Torquere Press in their ‘Turn of the Screw’ offerings; you’ll get a few chapters of this and other wonderful stories each month. I love her other work and can hardly wait to get my hands on this one. Check it out here: Turn of the Screw
