Folks, please welcome my guest, Kim Fielding, who knows a thing or six about m/m romance.
My kids are 15 and 11, and they’ve been planning for months. The older one insists she is not too old for trick-or-treating. I guess she can get away with it, as long as she wears a costume and accompanies the younger one. The older one wants to cosplay some character from a web comic she’s into. The younger one hasn’t made up her mind yet, although she’s leaning toward something scary. Both of them are discussing decorations and food. The older one will be going with her friends to a corn maze, which also includes a cannon for shooting pumpkins.
Now, I’ve pretended to be very indulgent over all this. I’ve taken them to one Halloween store already and ordered some goodies to give away. But the truth is, I love the holiday too. I love the decorations. I love pumpkin everything. People bring their kids to our neighborhood to trick-or-treat—we routinely get a couple hundred kids at the door—and I even love that.
I missed Halloween last year, because on October 31 I was traveling from Warsaw to Zagreb. Yeah, I know—you don’t really feel sorry for me. But the rest of the world doesn’t really do Halloween the way the US does. So I got to experience All Saints’ Day in a very Catholic country, which was interesting. But it wasn’t Halloween.
This year I even have an excuse to dress up! I’ll be attending GRL, where there’s a costume party. I may get double duty from my costume by also wearing it on the 31st when I greet kids at the door.
And the other great thing about October? Those five new releases! I’m doing a Fieldingpalooza blog tour to celebrate, complete with prizes. You can find the details on my website. Please join me!
