Looking back at 2013

So what did I accomplish in 2013 with my writing?

Return to the Mountain400x600 (2)My fifth Mountain novel was released from Dreamspinner. Return to the Mountain has a couple of mountain boys who’d just like enough money for groceries and greens fees, and get more than they reckoned on. Gary and Seth got some nice reviews for hanging out with characters from other Mountain books and The Rare Event.

OutinColorado_500Slip/Slide/Snow marked my first shifter story since my fan fiction days, and what a lot of fun it was! The Colorado MM Authors put together a Colorado-centric anthology through Storm Moon Press, where my contribution was a snowboarder with a secret.

Never give an otter a box of Cheerios.

SpokesMy big cycling story had to take a back seat to the Mountain series, but I finished it in time for GayRomLit. Christopher and Luca burned some rubber training  in Colorado and racing in Italy, and impressed a reviewer or two.

This is my first, but not last, novel through Rocky Ridge Books.

ScrumI do seem to have a sports theme going, don’t I? For the Goodreads MM Group’s prompt pic and letter event, I wrote a rugby player and a fanboy. Robin and Yves are currently free through the Goodreads group, as part of the anthology, and as a stand-alone short through Apple and Kobo, with more venues to come shortly.

Then there was the novel and a short in a different genre and under a different name, plus a whole slew of editing for Eden Winters and other authors. Building a website for Rocky Ridge Books, which is a work in progress. Spending a week in Oregon learning to format books, and getting nine titles (mine and Eden’s) into real dead tree print. Getting those same books plus some shorts into ebook format, with Eden’s help.

Going to GayRomLit and having a blast with everyone in Atlanta. Visiting Seattle for the Northwest Meet-Up, and again having a great time with new friends and old. Having librarian Marlene Harris show me my print books ready to be sent out to the branch libraries.

Getting three novels outlined and started on the writing for one, even though the word count (2000/60,000) hasn’t budged the counter a lot.

When I lay it out like this, looks like I got quite a lot done in 2013, and I have some ambitious plans for 2014. So why do I feel like I’ve been slacking?

Did you have some goals for 2013 that you met? Any you’re still working on?

Why is this otter melting?

I found some pics and couldn’t resist adding captions. Lon’s good times are probably best outside. Find out why in the Out in Colorado anthology.

OutinColorado_3d_500Slip/Slide/Snow

Fresh powder snow and running water in the Colorado backcountry call Lon like the moon calls the wolves. Belly-sliding to a good time on the weekends makes up for a workweek at a desk, and meeting Corey adds a whole new level of fun to snowboarding.

It’s easy to slip away for alone time on the mountain without raising suspicion, but how’s Lon to entertain himself when bad snow and a worse spill force them off the mountain too early?

With stories from Caitlin Ricci, Tabatha Heart, George Seaton, Lichen Craig, Cari Z, and P.D. Singer.  From Storm Moon Press.
